Two General Motors small SUVs were recently recognized for their technology and features that prioritize your safety. The 2021 GMC Terrain and 2021 Chevrolet Equinox both earned spots on the U.S. News & World Report’s 14 Safest Small SUVs of 2021 list.
In order to make the list, the small SUVs had to receive high ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and high crash test scores from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The vehicles also had to offer some standard driver-assist technologies.
2021 GMC Terrain
The 2021 GMC Terrain received “Good” ratings in the six IIHS crashworthiness tests and a “Superior” rating for its vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system. The SUV also earned a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA. In addition to its standard Automatic Forward Emergency Braking, the 2021 Terrain also offers a number of available driver-assist technology that helps drivers stay safe on the road, such as blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and lane change alert.
2021 Chevrolet Equinox
Similar to the 2021 Terrain, the 2021 Chevy Equinox also received a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. On top of its “Good” IIHS crashworthiness test ratings, the small SUV also earned the Top Safety Pick rating with its available headlights. U.S. News & World Report writers also highlighted the Equinox’s comfortable interior that features a user-friendly infotainment system.
